European Institutions and North America (EINA)
The regional office for European Institutions and North America works at two sites: in Brussels and in Washington D.C. In these two centres of European and American politics we actively encourage political dialogue and develop innovative liberal approaches and solutions. A lively dialogue is based on tolerance and mutual respect.
The activities of the regional office aim at promoting and developing these basic values through intercultural exchange. The main emphasis of our work is the encouragement of dialogue between North and South, East and West.
The contents of our programmes tackle topics that are important for liberal policy-making, such as human rights, civil society, market economy, free trade and the environment. Well-known politicians, experts and young liberals meet at congresses, workshops, panels, seminars and
hearings to discuss issues important for the future and to come up with practical liberal approaches for action. The active nature of the global network of distinguished liberal individuals and institutions is one example, among others, of the sustainable quality of this ongoing dialogue.
An important aspect of the Regional Office‘s work concerns prominent figures and intellectuals from developing and transition countries. Together with members of the European Parliament, EU Council of Ministers representatives, European Commission officials and high-ranking NATO decision-makers, they debate and formulate long-term political concepts.
The transatlantic dialogue, organised from our office in Washington D.C., fosters political dialogue among political, business, scientific and cultural elites from North America (USA and Canada) and Europe. In our view, the transatlantic partnership is first and foremost a partnership of values. It is a major pillar for the security and stability of Western democracies. Only together can we make a worldwide contribution to social and economic progress. The various transatlantic dialogue programmes seek to achieve higher degrees of mutual understanding and to facilitate the transfer of experiences for solving political problems. Experts from non-governmental organisations are involved in the same way as representatives from European umbrella associations and international think tanks.
The regional office in Brussels also keeps track of the possibilities for co-funding our worldwide projects with European Commission contributions. Our project offices and partners get intensive advice and coaching from the moment they make the original application, through to the signing of the contract, and right up to the drafting of the final report.
